Dylan O’Brien is searching for answers in new ‘Maze Runner’ trailer

Wes Ball's upcoming action-adventure movie “The Maze Runner” has just gotten a new trailer, and as thrilling as it may be, it asks more questions than it answers.  But, perhaps that's the point.

Starring Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Will Poulter, the movie is based on James Dashner's novel all about a young man, Thomas (O'Brien), who wakes up in the middle of a huge maze with no memory of the world or how he got there.  He, with the help (and hindrance) of the other boys trapped in the maze, sets out to learn the truth of what is going on.

It is, in that sense, a mystery, and the trailer does a good job of setting that mystery up, posing questions it doesn't answer.  That isn't a knock on the trailer – it can't answer those questions because those questions and answers are the plot of the movie.  In fact, it's a good trailer because it poses those questions and gets the viewer interested in the answers.

To offer up just a few examples:  why are these boys in this maze, who is doing this, why are there no girls (save one) in the maze, how does this one girl know Thomas, what are the evil creatures running around the place, how does the maze move, and why do some of the boys not want Thomas to go and explore?  There is, in short, much one wants to know after watching the trailer.

We ought to get answers to all of our questions on September 19th when “The Maze Runner” dashes into theaters.  In the mean time, check out the trailer and tell us what questions you have after watching it.
