Times Square revelers had some help ringing in the New Year this week, as Sony unleashed a new “Amazing Spider-Man 2” teaser in which Spidey saves the day after Electro attacks the fabled tourist area.
The teaser begins with none other than 91-year-old Marvel legend Stan Lee introducing the action, telling viewers “I don’t know about you, but I am so excited about this, and I won’t waste any more of your time!”
Soon, supervillain Sparkles, er, Electro (Jamie Foxx) makes his move and the always-quippy Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) swings in for some action.
We’re also shown quick glimpses of villains Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan). Hey Sony, can you save something for the sequels?
Emma Stone and Chris Cooper also star, although they don’t figure in the teaser. Marc Webb once again directed. Watch the initial trailer here.
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” opens on May 2.
