Horror legend Joe Dante has directed some of the most iconic genre films of the last few decades, from the 1981 werewolf classic “The Howling” to the 1984 blockbuster “Gremlins” and its batty 1990 sequel “Gremlins 2: The New Batch.” Now he's back with “Burying the Ex” (his first proper feature since 2003), a horror-comedy starring Anton Yelchin as Max, a twentysomething man whose overbearing girlfriend Evelyn (Ashley Greene) comes back from the dead just as he's embarking on a new relationship with free-spirited Olivia (Alexandra Daddario).
In the HitFix-exclusive clip above, which takes place prior to Evelyn's untimely demise in a freak accident, Max and Olivia delight in their shared knowledge of forgotten General Mills cereals (remember Fruit Brute?) as Evelyn grown increasingly annoyed with their geeky interplay. It gets pretty ugly from there.
“Burying the Ex” hits VOD and iTunes on June 19.
