Female speedster finally cast on ‘The Flash’ but why is she white?

“The Flash” has finally cast a female speedster, but considering her comic book character is a woman of color, why is the actress white?

“Days of Our Lives” and “Baby Daddy” actress Allison Paige will be guest starring in an upcoming episode of “The Flash” as the character named Trajectory. In the comics, Trajectory was a female speedster who got her powers from Superman's Lex Luthor when she wanted to become Kid Flash.

While casting a female speedster is a personal dream come true, I'm confused at this specific casting choice. No offense to Ms. Paige, but as the internet is blowing up right now discussing the how people of color are underrepresented on film and television, why would “The Flash” cast a white actress as Eliza Harmon/Trajectory, when the character is clearly a woman of color?

According to TVLine, Allison Paige will make her debut in episode 16 of “The Flash”: Having arrived in town intent on creating maximum chaos, Trajectory”s antics are misinterpreted as having been perpetrated by the Flash himself. Barry thus must quickly! uncover the mystery of who is the girl under the mask – as well as what is driving her mad desire for speed and destruction.

“The Flash” airs Tuesdays on The CW at 8/7C.
