First Look: Nightcrawler BAMFS his way into ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

As production begins on Bryan Singer”s “X-Men: Apocalypse,” we”re going to be seeing less concept art and more actualized costumes. Case in point: Earlier today, 20th Century Fox released the first image of Kodi Smit-McPhee (“The Road”) as the young version of Nightcrawler.

What is this, a photo for ants? ENHANCE!

Much better. Now it's easier to make out the 80s jacket that is giving allusions to Nightcrawler's classic costume. Gonna have to admit khakis are a better look than skintight black spandex.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” is set in 1983, or ten years after the events of “Days of Future Past” and twenty-one years after “First Class.” Sure Azazel is dead and it would be super weird to see Jennifer Lawrence as a “mom” but the math could add up. If Mystique and Azazel hooked-up before he was taken by Trask, Nightcrawler would be in his mid-teens. Smit-McPhee is 18 but Hollywood has never been shy about having actors play younger.

Will mother and son be reunited in “X-Men: Apocalypse”? We'll have to wait until May 27, 2016 to find out!
