SAN DIEGO – “The Vampire Diaries” heartthrob Ian Somerhalder was at Comic-Con to promote the CW drama's upcoming sixth season. Somerhalder dropped hints about what fans can expect after the dramatic cliffhanger finale.
“I think what's interesting is these story lines have been told over the course of five years. [And now] the dynamics are changing. It's sort of a reboot,” he said.
Part of that reboot sees Damon (Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) thrown together on The Other Side. Exploring that relationship is something Somerhalder is excited to delve into.
“We saw Damon and Bonnie in the very early run of the show. There was an exorbitant amount of chemistry between them [but] ultimately you never saw them again together because of that…” he said, since the show was primarily about the love triangle between himself, Stefan (Paul Wesley), and Elena (Nina Dobrev).
When pressed about how he feels about spending more time with Graham this season, he had nothing but praise for his co-star.
“I'm ecstatic. She's a profoundly talented woman.”
The CW's “The Vampire Diaries” premieres on October 2.
