Joshua Leonard is no stranger to grimness, as he was one of the three terrified leads in “The Blair Witch Project” 15 years ago. But in “If I Stay,” the new young adult tearjerker starring Chloe Grace Moretz as a Juilliard-ready cellist who ends up on life support after a car accident that kills the rest of her family, Leonard is spooky in a whole different way. He plays Moretz's father, a rocker type whose life we see in flashbacks, and it's eerie watching his happy familial scenes knowing he's a goner.
We caught up with Leonard to discuss playing the eerie role, whether Moretz is funnier than her onscreen character, and whether the family in “If I Stay” is anything like his.
