Joss Whedon says there’s no ‘Age of Ultron’ end-credits scene; Internet immediately suspicious

In the age of social media, Hollywood goes to great lengths to keep fans in the dark about their upcoming films. When tabloids are willing to send drones over the closed set of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” you know you”re in the midst of guerrilla warfare for exclusives to feed into the voracious maw of a spoiler-hungry public.

Fans now know creators will lie straight to our faces, whether it”s about a casting decision or a plot twist. Which is why when Joss Whedon told Entertainment Weekly there are no plans for an “Avengers: Age of Ultron” end credits sequenced, it seemed very suspect.

According to Whedon:

“There is nothing at the very end. And that”s not a fake-out. We want people to know so they don”t sit there for 10 minutes and then go: ‘Son of a bitch! I”ll kill them!””

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, went on to clarify there would be a mid-credits stinger, just not the second one at the very end.

Yet the Internet was not convinced. After all, this is EXACTLY what someone would say if they were trying to misdirect from an important post-credits reveal. Regardless of Whedon”s assurances, it seems many fans will be sitting it out anyway, just in case.
