Lil Wayne”s fourth “Carter” set makes it two atop the Billboard 200 this week. “Tha Carter IV” took a 77% sales hit but that still generated 219,000 sales in its second week, both spent at No. 1.
Adele”s “21” climbs No. 3 to No. 2 with 121,000, down 21%.
George Strait flies straight to No. 3 with “Here for a Good Time,” moving 91,000 units. His last album, 2009″s “Twang,” made it to No. 1 with 155,000. This makes it 17 top 10 efforts for Strait, though his first set to start with less than 100,000 units since 1994.
The Beatles are back with “1” re-entering the top tier with 60,000 as the hits collection debuted in iTunes. It was first released in 2000; to sell 60,000 last week, it made a 5,786% jump.
Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “I’m With You,” falls No. 2 to No. 5 (58,000, -75%). Jay-Z and Kanye West”s “Watch the Throne” falls No. 4 to No. 6 (49,000, -38%).
Maroon 5″s “Hands All Over” makes a big uptick No. 23 to No. 7 (29,000, +97%), with a little help from iTunes” $6.99 sale for four days. It originally bowed at No. 2 in October last year.
“Now 39” ascends No. 10 to No. 8 (27,000, -25%) and Beyonce”s “4” descends No. 7 to No. 9 (25,000, -35%).
Foster the People’s “Torches” also rebounds chart-wise, climbing No. 12 to No. 10 (25,000, -14%). When it bowed in June, it debuted at No. 8.
Sales are down 17% compared to last week, and up 14% compared to the same week last year. Sales for the year are up 3% so far.
