Lou Reed on the Beatles in resurfaced interview: ‘They were garbage’

I know I'm guilty here of boiling a five-minute clip down to its most inlammatory soundbite, but whatever: in 1987, Lou Reed hated the Beatles. See, not universally beloved!

Let's be clear: people change, and this interview is nearly 30 years old. Lou Reed could very well have loved the Beatles later in life! Or he may have continued thinking they were “garbage” – as he describes them in this clip unearthed by PBS's “Blank on Blank” series — until the day that he died, But Paul and Ringo shouldn't feel too bad: Reed didn't like Jim Morrison's band either (“What I mean by stupid, I mean like The Doors”), or…anyone else's, really. Golden.
