Mac Miller is getting ready to take over the world, or at least the Billboard 200, next week as the rapper”s “Blue Slide Park,” on indie Rostrum, looks like a lock for No. 1 with projected sales of 180,000 copies.
Haven”t heard of him? His video for “Donald Trump” has already garnered more than 34 million views on YouTube and he was the subject of a Billboard cover story a few weeks back.
“Blue” is just one of four likely newbies to the Top 10: Likely to land at No. 3 is “Now That”s What I Call Music 40,” which includes the latest hits from Britney Spears, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Kelly Clarkson, while the soundtrack to “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” will settle for fourth place with sales of 105,000-115,000 copies, according to Hits Daily Double. Former Aventura lead singer Romeo Santos scores big as “Formula,” his debut solo album, will come in around No. 8.
Despite the CMA Awards handily winning their Nov. 9 time slot, the show doesn”t catapult any winning artist”s album, like the current efforts Lady Antebellum or Jason Aldean, back into the top 10. In fact, Miranda Lambert”s “Four the Record,” which debuted at No. 3 this week, will likely fall to around No. 9 with sales of 70,000.
For the rest of the top 10, Michael Buble”s “Christmas” soars in both sales and places, as it will likely jump six spots to No. 2. Justin Bieber”s holiday album, “Under the Mistletoe,” falls from No. 1 to No. 6. Adele”s “21” continues to sell and is poised to rise one spot to No. 5 with sales of 105,000. Susan Boyle”s “Someone to Watch Over Me” probably falls slightly from No. 4 to No. 7. Coldplay”s fifth studio album, “Mylo Xyloto,” hangs on in the Top 10, barely, at No. 10, falling three places.
