Millennium Falcon vs. Starship Enterprise: ‘There’s no question’ which one Neil deGrasse Tyson would chose

An eternal nerd debate just got more fuel to its fire: “Star Wars” vs. “Star Trek”? Which franchise is better, which characters are cooler, what weapons are more powerful, who would win in an all-out battle, etc. etc.

And now: Which iconic spacecraft is better, the Millennium Falcon or the Starship Enterprise, as decided by Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Tyson – the astrophysicist known for for hosting various TV shows and podcasts, for being a go-to source for the scientific merits of many sci-fi movies, and for demoting Pluto from planethood (or at least being given the bulk of the blame for that) – has made his choice. He said “there”s no question” that he”d choose the “Star Trek” starship over the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs.

He revealed his pick on National Geographic”s “Star Talk.” As for why he favors the Enterprise, he explained that it”s because there are “real” scientists working aboard it and because “it is the first-ever spaceship represented in storytelling that was not designed to go from one place to another. It was only designed to explore.” That was revolutionary, he contends.

Oh, and he said this too: “In a battle, the Enterprise would just wipe its ass with the Millennium Falcon.” Hmm, even with Han Solo in the cockpit?
