Move over Wolverine, Hulk, and more: Gwen Stacy is taking over Marvel this June!

For decades, Gwen Stacy languished as one of the few Marvel characters to be killed off and stay – mostly – dead. Then Spider-Gwen happened, and sales numbers don”t lie. Her inaugural issue sold over 200,000 issues in pre-order. Once on store shelves, Spider-Gwen continued to rack up sales. Her February numbers – the latest available from ComicChron – has her sitting pretty as the third most popular comic with over 250k units sold.

With popularity like that, it makes sense that Marvel is going to capitalize on their latest star. So this June, Gwen Stacy will take center stage in 20 variant covers!

From Marvel”s press release:

She”s smart, charming and she can lift a car! She”s Gwen Stacy, the Spectacular Spider-Woman and she comes to you each month in the pages of the critically acclaimed Spider-Gwen series! But what if Gwen Stacy had lifted Mjolnir to become Thor: Gwen of Thunder? What if she had been awarded the Eye of Agamotto, and battled the forces of the supernatural as Dr. Gwenge?

David Gabriel, Marvel”s SVP of Sales and Marketing, teased the unlimited combination possibilities for Gwen”s takeover. “Gwenom? The InGwenible Hulk? The Mighty AGwengers? What about G.W.E.N.D.O.K.? As soon as the idea came together, our artists couldn”t sign up fast enough. They”re having a ton of fun putting these together and it shows.”
