Bilbo, Legolas, Gandalf, and a dragon all in new ‘The Desolation of Smaug’ trailer

Lest you forget, Peter Jackson’s take on “The Hobbit” has been separated into three distinct films and the second one in the trilogy, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” is hitting theaters on December 13th. To help remind you of this fact and to whet your appetite for it, today, Warner Bros. released a brand new trailer which you can check out here.
This nearly two-and-a-half minute trailer offers up teases of many of the storylines with which the movie will deal, some of which were (obviously) started in the previous movie. We get to see a ring (The One that rules them all), a flaming eye (the kind that sits in Mordor), and there is even a softer side with a love story for Legolas. Oh yes, there’s also a quick look at a fire-breathing dragon who is less than amused by poor Bilbo Baggins.
In short, the trailer for “Desolation of Smaug” is full of action, excitement, and indicates a large scope for the new movie. Will Peter Jackson and company be able to deliver on the promise?
“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Benedict Cumberbatch, Evangeline Lilly, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, and many, many more.
You can see it on the big screen on December 13, but do watch the trailer and let us know what you think.
