And you thought Marvel's “Guardians of the Galaxy” looked like the most surreal superhero movie on the horizon.
Meet “Big Hero 6.”
The new trailer for Disney's first animated take on Marvel superhero lore, promises that the film will be more “Wreck-It Ralph” than “The Avengers.”
In the film, boy genius Hiro Hamada (Ryan Potter) builds a tubby, lovably dim-witted robot called Baymax (voiced by “30 Rock's” Scott Adsit) and puts together a team of rookie superheroes in order to fight a mysterious evil gathering in the city of San Fransokyo.
Like the initial teaser, there are a few extended gags involving Baymax's blobby physique and his less-that-perfect grasp on everyday life (such as the hilarious final joke in which he pets a cat and calls it a “hairy baby”). Plus, some eagle-eyed viewers may have seen these Easter eggs.
Although “Big Hero 6” is inspired by the Marvel comic of the same name, the trailer curiously avoids pointing that out, instead relying on “From the creators of 'Frozen' and 'Wreck-It Ralph.'”
From Walt Disney Animation Studios team, “Big Hero” was directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”). It also features the voices of Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans, Jr., Génesis Rodríguez, T. J. Miller, and Maya Rudolph.
The rest of the superhero team — Wasabi, Honey Lemon, GoGo Tomago and Fred — don't feature in the trailer, but you can meet them in the gallery below.
“Big Hero 6” opens November 7.
