The music video to Nicki Minaj and Beyonce's “Feeling Myself” is like one of those Magic Eye posters. At first glance, it is a mess, and it looks like it was made for $6 and a used ChapStick.
Watch it multiple times, on loop — say, with the sound off sometimes, or playing in the background on low like a rerun of “Frasier,” or while you are sleeping. It becomes ingrained in you. It looks like a million bucks. It is the Magic Eye with a dolphin soaring out of ocean.
Nicki Minaj perfects her wink here; Beyonce sunbathes in a Bulls jersey-themed one-piece. There's as many ways to toss hair as there are costume changes plus swagger that lasts until Memorial Day 2016. I applaud Coachella for once in my life. Its b-roll is as good as the a-roll.
Because Beyonce and Nicki Minaj like each other, and liked doing this shoot. It shows.
Watch this hand-in-hand with Queen B's “7/11.” This is why the cat with the heart-eyes emoji was invented.
“Feeling Myself” is on Minaj's album “The Pinkprint.”
