Outrage Watch: Patricia Arquette slams the media’s ‘repulsive’ Bruce Jenner coverage

Welcome to the February 11, 2015 edition of Outrage Watch, HitFix's daily rundown of all the things folks are peeved about in entertainment. Today's top story? Patricia Arquette slams the media for their “disrespectful” coverage of the unfolding Bruce Jenner story.

During an appearance on “The Meredith Viera Show” on Wednesday, the “Boyhood” actor — whose sister Alexis is transgender — blasted the media for their handling of Bruce Jenner's reported male-to-female transition: “They should be ashamed because they really are on the unforgivable side of history, and what they are doing is pathetic and immature and repulsive,” she told Vieira, adding further: “She is fighting a fight for a lot of kids that are being kicked out of their own homes, society turns their back on these kids. It”s really brutal.”

Outraged: New England Patriots cornerback Brandon Browner
Target: Kanye West
Why: In the wake of Shirley Manson's Facebook tirade on Tuesday, the New England Patriots cornerback took a moment to blast West for his moment-robbing Grammy shenanigans over the weekend. Tweeted the athlete: “KANYE WEST is a sucka! Everybody don't listen to Beyoncé. Second time he tried to steal somebody shine.” Love how brave he is, taking an unpopular stance on this.

Outraged: Pastor Robert Jeffress
Target: “Fifty Shades of Grey”
Why: During an appearance on former Fox News host Alan Colmes' radio show yesterday, the Dallas religious leader cited the upcoming E.L. James adaptation (which he's calling “Fifty Shades of Perversion,” groan) as a manifestation of the coming apocalypse: “I just think this movie may represent a new low in popular entertainment. That”s all I”m saying. And I”m just saying the Bible prophesized that in the End Times, there will be a lack of moral restraint, and I think we”re seeing that manifested in so many different ways.” We should so listen to him, you guys.

Outraged: Rachel Maddow
Target: NBC
Why: In the wake of Brian Williams' six month suspension from NBC News for “misremembering” his time in Iraq, MSNBC host Maddow took the network to task for refusing to make any NBC executives available for interviews to explain the decision. Said the host on Tuesday night's show: “You”d think that if they”re going to talk to anybody about this, we might reasonably get a leg up on getting interviews with any NBC News executives to explain this decision if only because we”re right down the hall.” Shocked at this giant corporation's lack of transparency. Unprecedented!
