Outrage Watch: Selena Gomez topless photo shoot inspires uproar

Welcome to the February 17, 2015 edition of Outrage Watch, HitFix's daily rundown of all the things folks are peeved about in entertainment. Kind of a light day for outrage! Maybe the long weekend helped.

Today's top story: a racy new Selena Gomez photo shoot has fans in a tizzy.

In a new spread for V Magazine, the “Spring Breakers” star looks noticeably younger than her 22 years while posing topless — a sight that left many to express their disbelief on social media. “How disturbing is @selenagomez' topless shoot for @vmagazine? She looks like an absolute 12-year-old,” tweeted one user. “It kinda weirds me out that Selena Gomez posed for v-mag & her makeup makes her look like a child pageant contestant.. All I see is 12yr old,” chimed in another.

VH1's Alexa Tietjen also did a double take. “Something doesn”t feel right here,” she writes. “Maybe it”s Selena”s babyface or the polka dot bow in her hair, but we”re confused by the juxtaposition of these two with her very mature photoshoot.”

Want more? There's plenty of indignation to go around. See below for a full roundup of today's kerfuffles.

Outraged: Jessica Williams
Target: The Billfold writer Ester Bloom
Why: In response to Williams' tweet that she was “under-qualified” to host “The Daily Show,” Bloom suggested the comedian was suffering from “Impostor Syndrome” — a psychological phenomenon in which a person feels undeserving of their accomplishments. Whaaaat. Williams understandably responded with — yes — outrage via Twitter: “Are you unaware, how insulting that can be for a fully functioning person to hear that her choices are invalid?” she tweeted. You can check out Donna Dickens' full roundup of the incident here.

Outraged: Madonna fans
Target: BBC Radio 1
Why: After a report in the Daily Mail over the weekend claimed the U.K. broadcaster had dropped the Material Girl's “Living for Love” single from rotation due to her age, fans of the singer rose up in protest on social media. “I'm 17. I'm not old. I want to listen to MADONNA!!!” wrote one user on the station's Facebook page. Producer Diplo, who manned the boards for Madonna's latest album “Rebel Heart,” also weighed in on Twitter:

Radio 1 is denying this, so it must be false. Must be.
