There”s something weird about watching Ricky Gervais earnestly sing a folk song. This is the same man who, while hosting the Golden Globes, trashed every A-lister in the room. But with his upcoming movie, David Brent: Life on the Road, the one time Office (U.K.) manager is showing his sensitive side…or at least as close as he can get.
The film has released a music video for one of Brent”s songs, 'Lady Gypsy.' It”s a sweet, slightly romantic ditty, provided you don”t listen to too many of the words. Then you get lost in Brent”s world of confusion, and everything goes haywire.
David Brent: Life on the Road is a rockumentary-style film in which Brent is out on tour. While he thinks it”s touting his musical accomplishments, it”s much closer to a “where are they now.”
The film also stars actor/comedian Doc Brown and Tom Basden. It”s slated for an August release in the U.K. While no theatrical release date has been announced for U.S. audiences, Netflix has the worldwide rights to streaming media. So it”ll be on your TV soon.
