(CBR) With new press rounds for his upcoming film “The Judge,” actor Robert Downey, Jr. continues to make waves in the Marvel Studios film universe with his behind-the-scenes tidbits. First came the “Avengers” star”s endorsement of a solo Black Widow film, and today comes word that the actor has no plans for an “Iron Man 4.”
“There isn”t one in the pipe,” Downey told Variety. “No, there”s no plan for a fourth 'Iron Man.'”
While the actor joked with the trade that he was amused by the idea that he would have a say in whether Marvel would ever replace him as Tony Stark, for the time being this seems to tamp down any talk of more Iron Man films in the near future. As recently as July, Downey had been open to more solo movies – and their reportedly high payday – saying “It”s down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that”s on us to agree or disagree.”
In any event, fans have more opportunities to get Stark back in their life soon. Downey is contracted to appear both in next summer”s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” as well as a second Avengers sequel set for 2018.
