Donald Glover and his fans are finally getting their wish…kind of.
The actor/musician/comic is joining the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming according to Deadline. As for what role he”ll be playing in the movie, this remains a mystery.
The move to add Glover to the superhero franchise comes six years after he jokingly (or perhaps not) threw his name into the ring by starting the hashtag #Donald4Spiderman. This was quickly embraced by the Twittersphere, which created no shortage of fan art and Photoshopped images of Glover wearing Spidey”s outfit. Unfortunately, the campaign didn”t work out, as the role was given to Andrew Garfield. Glover also won”t play Peter Parker this time as that”s being handled by Tom Holland.
Joining Glover in the flick are Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and possibly Michael Keaton.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is slated for a July 2017 release.
