‘Supergirl’ adds a new editor for CatCo. Could he replace Cat Grant?

There”s a new sheriff in town, and his name is Snapper Carr.

EW.com is reporting that Supergirl has added Ian Gomez, formerly of Cougar Town, to The CW series. He”ll play the editor-in-chief of CatCo magazine, and according to the publication, Carr has a “no-holds-barred” approach to journalism.

Gomez”s addition brings back into question Calista Flockhart”s involvement with the series. When the show moved its production base from Los Angeles to Vancouver, doubt was cast as to whether the woman who plays Cat Grant would return.

As for Flockhart, CW head Mark Pedowitz has previously said, “There are ongoing discussions. We are thrilled that she wants to continue on the show, and we are thrilled to have her in whatever capacity.”

Since moving from CBS to The CW, Supergirl has announced a couple of other significant casting decisions including one-time Wonder Woman Lynda Carter and Tyler Hoechlin.  Carter will play the president of the United States and Tyler Hoechlin is Clark Kent/Superman.

Supergirl returns for Season 2 on October 10 at 8 p.m. ET.
