The ‘Blade Runner’ sequel officially has a title

The Blade Runner sequel directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario, Prisoners) officially has a title: Blade Runner 2049.

If the title indeed points to the year in which the story will take place, that would place the events of the sequel 30 years after the first movie, which was directed by Ridley Scott. Harrison Ford is set to reprise his role as Deckard in the followup alongside franchise newcomers Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Barkah Abdi and Jared Leto.

Blade Runner 2049 is slated for release on October 6, 2017.
