Today in Superheroes: ‘Daredevil’ casts Foggy, ‘Batman v Superman’ adds Scoot McNairy

Shocker: there's more superhero casting news to report today.

Netflix's “Daredevil” series and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” have each added new cast members, with the former hiring former “Mighty Ducks” star Elden Henson (also coming up in both chapters of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay”) to play Matt Murdock/Daredevil sidekick Foggy Nelson and the latter adding up-and-comer Scoot McNairy (“Killing Them Softly,” “Gone Girl”) in an unspecified role. If you remember (and maybe you don't want to), Foggy was played by Jon Favreau in the poorly-received 2003 film version of “Daredevil” starring Ben Affleck.

Henson joins Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin) and Rosario Dawson in the forthcoming 13-episode Netflix series, the first of four Marvel miniseries that will air on the streaming service over the next couple of years. As for “Batman v Superman,” director Zack Snyder is already in production on the highly-anticipated “Man of Steel” sequel, with Henry Cavill returning as Superman and Ben Affleck starring as Batman. Also in the cast are Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Holly Hunter (playing a U.S. senator) and returning “Man of Steel” cast members Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. The surefire blockbuster is slated for release on May 6, 2016.
