Webb confirms he won’t be directing ‘Amazing Spider-Man 4’

(CBR) Mere weeks before the premiere of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” director Marc Webb has confirmed its 2016 follow-up will be his last time behind the camera of the Sony Pictures franchise.
“I”d like to be involved as a consultant, and I”ve already talked to these guys about it,” he told The Daily Beast, “but in terms of directing it, that will close out my tenure. I”ve had so much fun doing it, but after the third movie, it”ll be the time to find something else.”
The studio may not have to look far, however, as the “franchise brain trust” announced in September includes Alex Kurtzman and Drew Goddard, who are already in line to direct the Spider-Man spinoffs “Venom” and “Sinister Six”, respectively.
With Webb's departure still two years away, the interview didn't dwell too much on that; instead, the filmmaker was peppered with more pressing questions, including just who Felicity Jones is portraying in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” (persistent rumors suggest Black Cat).
“She plays somebody who works in OsCorp,” he replied, “… and that”s all I”m going to say about that!”
Opening May 2, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” stars stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti and Sally Field.
