Eddie Redmayne and his suitcase full of monsters are ready to mess up New York City in the second trailer for Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling. As “magizoologist ” Newt Scamander, future author of a textbook read by Hogwarts students in Harry Potter, Redmayne’s character is hunting down strange creatures in 1920s New York City and storing them in his TARDIS-like, “bigger on the inside” magic briefcase. Surely this well end well.
Scamander finds himself in New York after being kicked out of Hogwarts for “endangering human life with a beast” — even though teacher Albus Dumbledore argued strongly against his expulsion — as we find out in this trailer which aired during the MTV Movie Awards, the show which has also gifted us the first clip from Captain America: Civil War and a funny new trailer for Suicide Squad earlier tonight.
Oh, and get ready, because Warner plans to make three movies from J.K. Rowling’s 54-page book. It’ll have Colin Farrell as a wizard — we’ll admit we’re intrigued about that — and Eddie Redmayne making this face:
Fancy accents, high cheekbones, and monsters? This is either going to be the best, or the best-worst.
