The MTV Video Music Awards are as much about the musical performances as they are about the awards they hand out. We’ve been getting news and rumors about who will be performing at the VMAs over the last few days. Yesterday they announced Britney Spears will be continuing her latest comeback kick with her first performance in a decade, and that 2016 Video Vanguard winner Rihanna will perform as well as accept her award.
There are rumors Lady Gaga will be joining them. And today it was confirmed that Nick Jonas will be added to the list of people performing at the 2016 VMAs.
Jonas released an album, Last Year Was Complicated, earlier this year and will be performing at the VMAs on August 28 along with Ty Dolla $ign, who appeared on the track “Bacon” on Jonas’ album. But what makes Jonas’ appearance noteworthy is that earlier this year he took to Twitter to express his disappointment over being snubbed for a VMA nomination. He felt his video for “Close” deserved some love from the VMAs, and let it be known.
Disappointed with the fact Close got no love for the #VMAs2016

Actually after thinking about it more there are so many amazing things happening in my life and career. 9 out of 10 boxes are checked…

Won't let this one thing get to me. I'm feeling so inspired and grateful these days. Gonna focus more on caring less about the small stuff.

Fortunately for Jonas, he didn’t go in too hard on MTV, mostly focusing on how much he had to be thankful for. No bridges were burned, and despite the snub, Jonas will be at the VMAs. He’s just not going to win any awards.
