Over the weekend, President Trump reportedly called a come-to-Jesus meeting between his chief strategist Steve Bannon and son-in-law Jared Kushner in an attempt to get the pair to play nice and Make America Great Again. At the time, there were reports that Bannon was on the verge of being fired, and if he wasn’t dismissed, he might just up and quit anyway.
For his part, Kushner has been more in the spotlight as of late, traveling to foreign countries, trying to get his peace-in-the-Middle-East on. The added responsibilities for Kushner, the diminished role for the ex-Breitbart executive Bannon, and news that the two routinely butt heads all seemed to coincidentally coincide with negative Kushner articles on Breitbart News — the far-right website formerly run by Bannon. Now, Business Insider is reporting that since the two have agreed to bury-the-hatchet, employees at Breitbart have been ordered by senior editors to implement a ceasefire on the posting of stories critical of Kushner.
This wouldn’t be the first time a Bannon enemy within the White House has had the Breitbart dogs called off. In March, it was White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus going toe-to-toe with Bannon at times. After Bannon and Priebus had their own hug-it-out moment behind closed doors, Breitbart stopped publishing articles critical of Priebus. According to Business Insider, that call came directly from Bannon to Matthew Boyle, the website’s Washington editor.
This might not be the end of the Bannon-Kushner feud, but it certainly seems like the two are at least taking a couple minutes off between rounds.
