Just as a heads up, this story has seen some slightly inaccurate reporting from the New York Daily News, but Condoleeza Rice’s sentiment still stands, so we’re working with it. A few days ago, the NYDN resurrected some claimed comments by Donald Trump. The publication reminded the world about how Trump used “b*tch” in reference to former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, and they said he actually called her the b-word: “Condoleezza Rice, she’s a lovely woman, but I think she’s a b*tch. She goes around countries and other nations, negotiates with their leaders, comes back and nothing ever happens.”
The quote was inaccurate, but CNN contacted Rice about the report, who gave a classy and concise reaction: “Exactly. Can’t wait until November 9!” Then CNN did a little video-file digging and realized that Trump’s actual quote was this: “I wish she was a bitch. I don’t care if she’s a lovely woman. I want somebody that can go and make deals. She goes to countries, nothing ever happens. Except sound bytes.” He’s still not saying anything fantastic here, and Rice’s response still seems valid despite the quote fudge.
The New York Daily News reported Trump made this comment in November 2006 where he was giving a seminar at the Learning Annex Real Estate & Wealth Expo in Manhattan. Attendees that day thought they would learn Trump’s business prowess but were instead treated to his thoughts on the current state of politics. Trump called out members of the George W. Bush administration, particularly Rice, which is all very interesting since he reportedly considered her as a running mate. She took a hard pass on that offer and recently criticized the fact he was the Republican nominee:
Even 10 years ago Trump seems perfectly fine picking fights with people. During this campaign season, he has made lewd comments to other women and criticized the old GOP guard. But it looks like his comments are coming back to haunt him.
