Hillary Clinton Flies With Her Traveling Press Corp For The First Time Aboard Her New Plane

Hillary Clinton hasn’t enjoyed the most open relationship with the press during her campaign. Her critics frequently point towards her lack of press conferences — some estimates say it’s been 270+ days, although Tim Kaine pushed back on that claim — as a reason to fuel conspiracy theories about her health. And granted, she’s tossing the occasional impromptu rant towards reporters, but she’s not holding multiple rallies per day like Donald Trump does. As a natural born performer, he adores few things more than standing in front of a giant crowd and doing his thing.

Clinton has preferred to devote much of her campaign to private fundraisers for the ultrarich. Earlier this weekend, the New York Times published a lengthy glance at Clinton’s lavish events, where she doesn’t blink at charging $10,000 to pose in a family’s photo and recently raised $2.5 million from 10 people who wanted to meet her. Indeed, all of those rumors of health issues look odd when coupled with The Times‘ revelation of another moment where she “danced alongside Jimmy Buffett, Jon Bon Jovi and Paul McCartney, and joined in a singalong finale to ‘Hey Jude.'” (Hmm, Chris Christie will be heartbroken over the Bon Jovi detail.)

However, Clinton seems to be adopting a new approach for the final two months of her campaign, for she welcomed the press on Labor Day. In fact, they joined her on her brand new campaign plane — something that, as CNN’s Brianna Keilar mentions, Trump doesn’t generally do on his plane (although he’s done so at least once). The greeting was a little bit clumsy, as Clinton made her way back to the plane’s press section and exclaimed, “Welcome to our big plane! It’s so exciting! I think it’s pretty cool, don’t you? You’re supposed to say ‘yes.'” Well, maybe they’ll all warm up to each other. She did promise to chat at greater length later.

Here are some more photos of Clinton greeting her traveling press corps. She also tooled around with a scale model of the plane, which bears her “Stronger Together” campaign slogan.
