James Franco Made A Very James Franco Commercial To Endorse Hillary Clinton

Despite the recent departure of the original “Most Interesting Man in the World,” Dos Equis keeps pumping out new commercials with a younger actor. As a result, the concept remains as popular as ever, which is perhaps why the WomenVOTEProject has teamed up with James Franco to make its own version of the recognizable ad campaign and endorse Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. The result? A 30-second spot featuring Franco’s narration, Franco himself, and numerous shots of Clinton collected from appearances as the first lady, New York senator and secretary of state.

According to People, the #MostInterestingWoman campaign is spending $1 million in “key battleground states” to target Millennial voters with Franco’s charming good looks, soothing voice and, erm, somewhat creepy demeanor with a cardboard cutout of Clinton. “I don’t always endorse candidates,” says the Why Him? star while snuggling up to said cutout. “But when I do, they’re extraordinary. Vote wisely my friends.”

Creepiness notwithstanding, some of the commercial’s obvious plays on the Dos Equis ads it’s ripping are worth the watch. Like Franco’s listing of what makes Clinton standout, things like “The smartest guy in the room is always her” and “Her Secret Service code name is ‘Hermione,’ because she’s a f*cking wizard.” (Okay I totally laughed out loud at that last bit. Thanks, James.)

In a press release given to People, Franco said he was “excited to work with an amazing team to create and distribute this unconventional endorsement of Hillary Clinton for president.” The actor exclaimed he “wanted more people, particularly younger people, to get to know an extraordinary woman who has, through a lifetime a work, earned our trust and support.”
