Folks are still coming to terms with Ted Cruz’s departure from the presidential race (with jokes and jeers) after yet another landslide victory by Donald Trump in Indiana. The Texas senator left some unintentional parting gifts in his wake, which Trump will discover sooner or later. Now, the other guy is leaving the building. Yes, that’s right. John Kasich, who’s been scoring less than 10 percent in most state primaries and caucuses, is reportedly dropping out of the race. He nabbed 7.5 percent in Indiana, and after Cruz finally faced reality, Kasich appears to have shrugged his shoulders and ended the game.
A source close to the Ohio governor revealed to USA Today that Kasich has cancelled his scheduled Wednesday appearances. He is expected to make an official suspension statement around 5 p.m. EST. This decision is long overdue, as Kasich has only captured his home state and still hasn’t broken the number of delegates won by Marco Rubio. Kasich has said on repeated occasions that he would stick with his campaign until the convention. Even last night, his campaign manager told CNN, “It’s up to us to stop Trump and unify our party in time to defeat Hillary Clinton.”
However, CNN’s live broadcast notes that the guy simply ran out of money. Besides, everyone (including Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus) has conceded that Trump is the presumptive GOP nominee.

Kasich’s decision drops after a curiously optimistic Star Wars Day-themed campaign ad. Also, it’s not hard to guess how Kasich will be drowning his sorrows tonight.
