On Wednesday, Donald Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson stopped by the Fox Business network, where she lambasted the Dallas Morning News as a “liberal paper” for endorsing Hillary Clinton — the paper’s first non-Republican presidential endorsement in more than 76 years.
“We don’t come to this decision easily,” The Morning News’ editorial board wrote. “This newspaper has not recommended a Democrat for the nation’s highest office since before World War II. We’ve been critical of Clinton’s handling of certain issues in the past. But unlike Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton has experience in actual governance, a record of service and a willingness to delve into real policy.”
Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo asked Pierson about the editorial, pointing out that the spokeswoman is from Dallas. “It’s the first time your hometown paper has recommended a Democrat since before World War II,” she said. “That’s more than 70 years and nearly 20 elections. What do you do about it?”
“Well, nothing,” Pierson replied with a shrug. “We just acknowledge that the Dallas Morning News is a liberal paper. The reason why they have supported Republicans is because that’s the establishment in the state of Texas, and this is just an effort to continue to try to turn Texas blue, and it’s just not gonna work.”
Pierson is a regular guest on cable news, where she’s defended her man against his own “second amendment people” remarks, diagnosed his opponent with brain trauma, and assured reporters there was no “shake-up” happening inside the Trump campaign just days before Paul Manafort stepped down. She also blamed President Obama for the invasion of Afghanistan and accused reporters of “literally beat[ing] Trump supporters into submission,” among other outlandish claims that left one journalist speechless.
