Just in case you were trying to avoid the key words “Sarah” and “Palin” in your daily news searches, here’s a brief reminder that the former Republican Governor of Alaska and former vice presidential candidate is currently feuding with science education advocate Bill Nye. Why? Because she’s promoting a movie, Climate Hustle, which argues that human-caused climate change is one big giant fraud, and “The Science Guy” took to social media to denounce it as unscientific propaganda. Hence the ex-Alaskan politician’s latest comments regarding Nye’s scientific qualifications, or lack thereof.
According to The Hill, Palin addressed Nye directly at an event promoting Climate Hustle on Thursday in Washington, D.C. She told those in attendance that “Bill Nye is as much a scientist as I am,” adding “he’s a kids’ show actor, he’s not a scientist.” When pushed further by reporters about Nye’s comments against Climate Hustle, the pundit continued her attacks:
Palin encouraged parents to teach their children to doubt climate change and to “ask those questions and not just believe what Bill Nye the Science Guy is trying to tell them.”
Seeing as how Nye is one of the new film’s primary targets, it comes as no surprise that Palin would continue her recent string of public comments against the climate change activist.
As of this writing, Nye hasn’t responded on social media or in public to Palin’s latest attack on his character. Then again, he doesn’t really need to, as the internet at large has already done so on his behalf. (As has NASA, which shut down climate change deniers on Nye’s Facebook page.)
