Let me dip my toes in a tiny bit of snarky schadenfreude to say, “situps won’t help you when it was your chin that got rocked from Nate Diaz’s 1-2.” Hell, situps didn’t help Conor McGregor when Nate forced him to tap, either. So whatcha doin’ Conor? Oh, training hard? OK, that makes sense. I’ll be over here eating my pizza. *Shouting through a mouthful of greasy crust* “209!”
Now that we have that out of the way, let’s discuss Conor’s core workout. Conor’s been saying this has been his most intense camp ever, and he certainly seems mentally and physically prepared for his honorable rematch against Nate Diaz. It’s clear the featherweight champ is on a new level training camp-wise and that includes this ab workout.
You can hear Conor’s grunts as his training partner smacks him. You can hear the echoes of Bruce Buffer introductions and cash registers cha-chinging with each absorbed blow. Don’t get me wrong — this isn’t anything we haven’t seen from a fighter before, but the star power of McGregor and the stakes of this fight make this special. Something…different.
You could say this workout is ab-solutely crazy. Get it? Ab-solutely? Abs? Stomach muscles? The primary benefactors of sit ups? Oh God, I’m so sorry.
