In the main event of UFC 189, “The Notorious” Conor McGregor took on Chad “Money” Mendes for the interim featherweight title. After a back-and-forth first round, Mendes used his wrestling to neutralize McGregor for most of the second round. However, with under one minute to go, McGregor landed a huge punch, dropping Chad. Conor swarmed and referee Herb Dean stopped the contest, making McGregor the new interim champ.
