Noah Wyle had all the makings of a star. He was a handsome, charismatic lead on one of the biggest shows on television, E.R. (which should be added to Netflix Instant — papa needs his Romano getting his arm chopped off by a helicopter). But after leaving the hospital drama in the mid-2000s, he’s mostly had bit parts in ensemble films; The Librarian trilogy; and TNT’s Falling Skies, which has improved after a stiff first season, but still isn’t exactly a must-watch.
Maybe working with Justified creator Graham Yost will be the beginning of Wyle’s McConaissance?
Graham Yost has teamed with actor Noah Wyle for a limited series at FX examining the political battles in the U.S. over the decision to enter World War II.
Those Angry Days…will focus on the period between 1937 and 1941, as war spread across Europe while isolationist forces in Congress and elsewhere railed against the prospect of America coming to Britain’s aid in the fight against Hitler.
CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow is said to be a character in the series, as is President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Wyle is believed to be on board to play Murrow. The project is in the early stage of development with a script commitment at FX. (Via)
It’s a shame (our good friend) Yost couldn’t turn Harlan High into reality, but this sounds promising, too. It’s also the latest move in his game with Ryan Murphy to see who can have their name on more FX series (current tally: Justified, The Americans, Those Angry Days vs. American Horror Story and American Crime Story). Your move, Murphy. Don’t be afraid to forfeit.
