When The Daily Show returned from hiatus this week, it seemed to be lacking meaningful Ferguson coverage in the wake of the grand jury’s decision not to indict Darren Wilson and everything that’s happened since then. Last night, Jon Stewart fixed that by having Larry Wilmore — whose The Nightly Show premieres on January 19th — give his take on the Ferguson aftermath, which is probably the most funny and thoughtful commentary I’ve heard so far.
On the subject of “black on black” crime, Wilmore says that “he has a dream that one day the actions of a few sh*tty white people will be seen as discrediting their entire race.” The whole thing is pretty great. Although I’m bummed to lose Colbert, this makes me look forward to what Wilmore is going to bring on The Nightly Show.
