When it comes to Beyonce’s weekend activities, it seems that she proved without a doubt that she can keep people in on Saturday night. She can also keep the discussion going well into Monday’s late night programming. Almost every show had a bit of a reference to Bey’s visual album from HBO and The Daily Show decided to cover the wild reaction that followed. As we all well know, most of the discussion that followed had nothing to do with the main ideas Beyonce attempted to put forth in the video. There was a bit about the cameos, some think pieces on why using the mothers of slain police victims was “poor form, old chap,” but most of the talk was about her relationship with Jay-Z. Who is this Becky? Where does she get her hair done? Why is she messing around with Beyonce’s man.
Fans jumped on a few alleged “Beckys” at this point, which is likely a poor idea, but it also seems to be where the media’s bread was buttered. Screw those social issues and images we saw on screen, there’s relationship drama getting prime scheduling on HBO.
Being this is The Daily Show, they decided to go the political route and combine Beyonce’s amazing production with our other current obsession: Donald Trump. Instead of Jay-Z getting the boot fire here, The Donald is giving Ted Cruz and John Kasich the business using the Lemonade style. I doubt that anybody is going to have better hair in this version.
