Alexis Waller, 11, of Bryant, Arkansas stole $10,000 from her grandmother’s sock drawer and paid a cab driver $1300 to take her to Florida. All because she wanted to see a boy.
First of all, no. Second of all, how? Thirdly, NOPE! Fourthly, you’re grounded forever.
The cab company claims Alexis wore a lot of makeup, thus making herself look older than she was. Nevermind the fact a young girl asked them to drive to Florida, 800 miles away. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.
“He didn’t really ask anything, he just asked me where I needed to go,” Alexis told KARK. “I said, ‘I need to go to Jacksonville, Florida’. He’s like, ‘do you have money’ and I’m like ‘yes’.”
The driver said the ride would cost about $2,500. Alexis gave him about $1,300 upfront, and promised the rest when they got to Florida.
Yeah, no red flags there. That cabbie’s an astute observer of human distress. Anyway, her parents got wind of what was going on (after talking to police) and picked her up nine hours later in Atlanta.
As for the boy she was going to see, well, the 16-year-old said they had been talking for two years after meeting on vacation but knew nothing of her great escape. All in all, I think the moral of the story here is pretty simple. Teenagers (and in this case, pre-teens) are stupid human beings.
