Carl Sciortino Jr.’s New Political Ad Is A Nice Change Of Pace

Carl Sciortino Jr. has been serving the state of Massachusetts since 2005 in the state’s House of Representatives, but he has his sights set on a bigger and better office, as he’s running in a special election to become the U.S. Representative of Massachusetts’ 5th district. He’s also openly gay, and he decided to play on that fact in his new campaign ad, which doesn’t attack any possible opponents or use a grizzled voiceover to tell us how he owns a Ford pickup truck covered in bald eagle feathers and wakes up every morning to the “Star-Spangled Banner” on his alarm clock.

Instead, he introduces us to his dad, Carl Sciortino Sr., who also happens to be a member of the Tea Party, and Junior “comes out” to him as a Massachusetts liberal. At the very least it’s a reminder of the silly idea that people can believe two different things and still get along.
