“Movie Recreations” isn’t anywhere near the top 10 reasons to have a baby, but it should be. Especially after a dope dad recreated Simba’s iconic birth scene from The Lion King to introduce his girl cub to the jungle, the mighty jungle.
Just like Rafiki broke open a piece of fruit and smeared its juices on Simba’s forehead, proud papa Timi Wusu hilariously performed the same ritual after his wife Maria gave birth to their first child — daughter Kaiori Ayotunde Omautan Wusu — on April 27. However, in the video shared online, Wusu foregoes the fruit, and uses baby ointment to smear on Kaiori’s forehead before lifting her up. The recreation was all done at a Boston hospital, so no cliffs, which would’ve been dangerous as hell, actually.
Also, instead of elated goats, elephants, zebras and all the other animals happy to see the circle of life continuing on, baby Kairoi is introduced to the hospital staff, who are just as delighted as the animals in the original Lion King. So cool.
And for anyone wondering the story behind Kaiori’s unique name, the Wusus drew inspiration from their own Nigerian heritage with a mix of Japanese. According to their introduction video:
Kaiori — “Sweet Fragrance (Japanese)
Ayotunde — “Joy Has Come Again (Yoruba)
Omautan — “God’s Own (Badagry)
Wusu — “Warrior” (Egun)
