Within the last month, several studies have surfaced that reveal that excessive alcohol consumption in the United States costs Americans more than $200 billion a year, nearly one-third of women rely on alcohol to have a good time (and that one in ten believe a “good time” means “not being able to remember anything from the night before”), that children who listen to pop music are exposed to alcohol brands associated to degrading sex and may thus develop substance abuse problems as a result, that alcohol can increase your chance of getting lung cancer, that alcohol disturbs your sleep, and that one in six students restrict their food intake to consume more alcohol, which can lead to long-term health problems.
And those studies are just from the last month, nevermind the countless studies that say alcohol can cause liver damage, increase the rates of divorce, shorten your life, and lead to sex that you’ll regret the next day. But you know what is not bad for you? Pictures of women holding alcoholic drinks. Studies have found that such imagery can actually increase blood flow, stimulate certain organs, and increase your appetite for pretzels. Pretzels are great. And so is this gratuitous slideshow. But remember: UPROXX reminds you to always drink responsibly, unless someone else is driving. Then by all means: Drink until you can’t feel your legs.
