We have good news for the 600,000 people who signed a Change.org petition asking Rockstar Games to make a version of Grand Theft Auto V for the PC. Eurogamer claims to have conversed with “multiple industry sources” who say Grand Theft Auto V for the PC will be released in the first quarter of 2014. This would mimic the release schedule for GTA 4, which took nearly eight months to come to PC. That would be a huge improvement over the release schedule for Red Dead Redemption, which is still console-only after three years. That’s enough to make us want to shoot some virtual horses.
There have been hints of a PC version of Grand Theft Auto V for awhile now. In July, Rockstar Games posted a job listing for “a talented graphics programmer to help bring our latest titles to the PC platform.” At an investor call a short while later, Nvidia mentioned an upcoming PC version of the game, then sent a press release claiming they misspoke.
We’re still holding out hope for Grand Theft Auto V on PC. The mods are going to be glorious.
