It appears as though word of Twinkies’ demise was greatly exaggerated. The little angelic sprites over at Hostess have decided that not even bankruptcy can stop their charitable work of giving us all the fat our decaying bodies desire. As you recall, Hostess filed for Chapter 11 in 2012 and we were though to be without Twinkies for all of eternity – or the lifespan of a Twinkie. But fear not…we have been saved!
The company, which went bankrupt in 2012 and is under new management, is touting the return on July 15 as “the sweetest comeback in the history of ever.”
Hostess is now owned by the private equity firms Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co.
“America wanted Hostess back — they wanted the original. Very soon consumers will once again be able to enjoy Twinkies, CupCakes and other great Hostess snack cakes. A comeback by any other name could never be as sweet,” Daren Metropoulos, principal of Metropoulos & Co., said in a statement to ABC News.
So it looks like the summer is back in business, and we can go back to stuffing our bodies with the best treats the world has to offer starting on July 15th. Gotta feel for the idiots who paid thousands for Twinkies on eBay, right? Anyway, let’s react, shall we?
