We’ve previously reported on Ron Howard’s upcoming film and TV adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, but the one thing that’s everyone’s been asking is: who can they get to play lead character and gunslinger Roland Deschain? It seems like most of the Stephen King nerds are pushing for Viggo Mortensen or Christian Bale, but Deadline is reporting that the part has been offered to No Country For Old Men‘s Javier Bardem.
Now, Bardem hasn’t accepted and they haven’t even entered into formal negotiations yet, but that certainly makes him the front runner for the part. We don’t even know if he’d even want the part, since it’s a huge commitment to sign up for at least three movies and two TV series, which would presumably take even longer to shoot than the Lord of the Rings movies. But he would have the opportunity to gun down hundreds of people, and isn’t that every actor’s dream?
