Kim Kardashian is safely back in New York City after being brutally robbed in Paris on Sunday. Per reports, Kim was bound and gagged at her Parisian home while armed thieves made out with jewelry worth millions, including a diamond ring the size of a boulder. Fans of the star previously saw the ring and jewelry collection all over Instagram, Snapchat and other various social media accounts. It’s a move that Karl Lagerfeld claims was probably the reason Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in the first place.
The 83-year-old Chanel designer is part of the victim-blaming opinion that maybe Kim shouldn’t be tempting thieves with her pricey jewelry collection, even if she literally makes her money by sharing every part of her life with the 100 million people who follow her on social media. “You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you,” the Kardashian friend told reporters after his SS 2017 Chanel show in Paris Tuesday. “If you’re that famous and you put all your jewelry on the net, you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room.”
Lagerfeld went on to say that Kim’s robbery also paints Paris in a bad light, adding, “Image-wise, I think it’s very bad. We make all the efforts to make Paris appealing and then…apparently [the armed robbers] were people from Eastern Europe.”
Meanwhile, French police and the Kardashian family think the whole incident was an inside job since Kim’s bodyguard was MIA when the robbery took place. According to TMZ, there was a very small window when the robbers had easy access.”
