Manti Te’o’s Dead Fake Girlfriend Had Nothing To Do With Him Not Being A First Round Draft Pick

After speculation about whether Notre Dame linebacker Manti Teo would be selected in the first round, we finally got the answer during last night’s NFL Draft. At the end of the night, all 32 teams decided to pass on the polarizing prospect.

Once considered to be one of the best defensive prospects in the nation, Te’o’s draft prospects plummeted after coming up shorter than Midget Mack in the BCS title game against Alabama and NFL combine performances definitely hurt his stock. The 6-foot-1, 240-pound All-American ran a 4.82-second 40-yard dash at the combine, considered slow for a linebacker. He did better at Notre Dame’s pro day but it wasn’t enough to clear the doubt.

Then there’s that having a lengthy relationship with a dude impersonating a female and being too gullible to realize it, which lead to a messy cover-up. While Te’o and his camp tried to do damage control via a series of appearances on the talk-show circuit, we all knew the verdict was in, as no one would spend that first round tender on a guy that could be fooled by RuPaul on a cloudy night.

The second and third rounds take place Friday, when Te’o hopes to fair better than Thursday night’s bust.
