It’s every mother’s very specific worst dream, having your face appear on a revenge porn website. That’s what happened to Melissa Esplin, who’s about as clean cut as they get: she’s a happily married mother of two who runs an online craft blog and calligraphy business from her home in Salt Lake City…and she’s being propositioned by horny men from all over the world. The Internet is a rank cesspool of awfulness.
The messages alerted Esplin that her photos were posted on a revenge porn website where someone had copied her appropriate online photos and posted them next to sexually explicit images of another woman. Next to the photos were her full name, the city she lives in and her contact information.
Worse, the site demanded she pay $400 if she wanted her photos and information taken down. (Via)
Esplin has since contacted the authorities, and they’re doing what needs to be done to scrub her image from the applicable websites.
