Senate leaders should listen to the American people. #DoYourJob pic.twitter.com/vArMxcZh5W

There is absolutely no way President Obama didn’t know what he was doing when he tweeted out a statistic that included the number 69. The guy has 75 million followers and a full social media team ready and willing to point this out to him and yet he did it anyway. There is simply no universe in which I will believe that the most dad joke-loving president in the history of our country (I mean, I don’t know what Zachary Taylor’s sense of humor was like but I can only assume it was a bit more staid) didn’t understand exactly how the internet would react when faced with the opportunity to make the most satisfying yet easy joke on the internet. Sasha and Malia have definitely giggled when their dad has said “69” before so he is almost certainly clued in.
The first internet denizen to prove they sometimes have the humor of a 14-year old boy (don’t we all?) was none other than Chris Hayes, an MSNBC anchor and someone who’s crew will now probably try to make him giggle every time they tape by using this weakness.

Pretty much everybody else with a Twitter account quickly followed suit and lived up to the very very low expectations of the internet. If the internet as a whole has to step up to the plate in one and only one area, it is to tweet “nice” at somebody that has just tweeted something – anything at all – including the number 69. So everybody give yourselves a pat on the back, you have accomplished something and can go home for the day.
Yes, good. Everyone has made their point.
Umm…everyone remembers this is actually the leader of the free world, right? The legit president of the United States we are tweeting to? Just a reminder in case we overlooked that.
Lest we forget though, that the President’s tweet is an important call to the Republicans in office to hold a vote on Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland before his term is up as that is their duty to the citizens of this country whether they agree with the choice or not. Everyone on both sides of the aisle really needs to put aside their differences and play nice. If both parties come together and do their part, each side leaves happy and satisfied.
